Kenneth "Kenny" Zirkelbach

Kenneth "Kenny" Wayne Zirkelbach, 65, of Evansville, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at home. Kenny was born in Evansville on November 30, 1958 to Albert and Barbara (Paris) Zirkelbach. He was raised by his mother and other bonus dad, Kenneth Smallwood.

He was a 1977 graduate of Bosse High School. He married Nancy (Angerer) Hayes in Evansville on April 2, 1984. Kenny retired from University of Evansville in 2016 after 37 ½ years of service. He held numerous jobs there from groundskeeper to Senior Maintenance Tech.

Kenny was an avid gun collector. He also played bass guitar with his family, and George and the Country Boys Band. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, especially feeding the birds and squirrels, and spending time with the family. Kenny used to work on cars with his brother Don at his late Uncle John’s garage.

Kenny is survived by his wife of 39 years, Nancy; mother, Barbara Smallwood; children, James Zirkelbach of Evansville, Ron Hayes, Jr. (Sarah) of Akron, Ohio, and Amy Fairchild (Ryan) of Evansville; two brothers, Don Zirkelbach (Joyce) of Enfield, Illinois and Duane Smallwood (fiancé, Shari) of Evansville; four grandchildren, Abigail, Isabella, and Elijah Hayes of Akron, Ohio and Kole Fairchild of Evansville. He adored his grandchildren. Other survivors include his mother-in-law, Florence Angerer; sister-in-law, Janet Duncan (Robert); brothers-in-law, Mark, Brian Angerer (Dennifer) and Steven Angerer (Kara); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his dads, Kenneth Smallwood and Albert Zirkelbach; father-in-law, Delbert Angerer; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church or your favorite charity.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Alexander East Chapel with Fr. Bernie Etienne officiating. Friends may visit on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
