Karen H. Rideout, 75, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at VNA Charlier Hospice Center. She was born November 5, 1937, in Evansville to the late R. Truman and Margaret (Gresshoff) Hatcher.
She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. She was a very talented artist who taught painting classes. Karen regularly attended craft shows in Evansville and was known by many who bought her paintings. Karen was an avid animal lover who enjoyed bird watching. She was an animal advocate who often donated to the Humane Societies. She will be greatly missed by her family, especially her granddaughter, Karissa, who Karen helped care for since she was born.
Karen was preceded in death by her husband, William Rideout; and sister, Jane Hatcher.
She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Dusky (Jason) Farmer; granddaughter, Karissa; step-daughter, Vicki Reynolds; and step-sons, Gary and Jeff Rideout.
The family would like to thank the staff of VNA Charlier Hospice and the 5 Central Unit at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
Services will be 4:00 PM Sunday, February 17, 2013, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Fr. Joseph Ziliak. Friends may visit Sunday from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Vanderburgh Humane Society.
