 Obituario de Junis Annette Winters
Junis Winters, 85, of Evansville, passed away quietly on April 26, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Home. She was born Junis Kunkel to the late Alice and Herb Kunkel in Holland, Michigan on September 12, 1937. After marrying the late Myron Lucas in 1960 and having a son and a daughter, Myke and Junie moved from Holland, Michigan to Miami, Florida for several years before settling in Evansville, Indiana to raise their family. Junis is survived by her son Chris Lucas (Connie) and grandchildren Madison Lucas and Joseph Lucas of Evansville, Indiana; her daughter Amy Lucas, and grandchildren Cody Muste (Ashley) of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Charley Muste (Clark Ennis) and great-grandchild Chandler Ennis of Denver, Colorado; the lovely family of her sister Marilyn Gay Borgman (Kunkel) of Ingleside, Illinois and the family of her charming brother Daniel Kunkel of Sarasota, Florida. Junis was preceded in death by her brother Steven Kunkel. Junie will be fondly remembered by friends and family for her lifelong love of music, gardening, her beautiful way with words, her kindness and grace, and her never-ending love affair with the sun. She was a long-time member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Evansville, sang in the Evansville Philharmonic Chorus, and was an enthusiastic and passionate supporter of the arts, education, equal rights, and other social issues. Family and friends may gather at Alexander North Chapel on Saturday May 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Scott Cassel officiating. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Good Samaritan Home and Heart to Heart Hospice, as well as her friends and neighbors in Senate Estates, where Junis was a longtime resident. We are very appreciative of their love, care, and kindness. If you are unable to visit in person, please play some loud rock & roll while you sing and dance around your living room or howl at the next full moon which happens to be Friday May 5, in her honor. In lieu of flowers, plant something and think of Junis as it grows. Condolences may be made online at www.AlexanderNorthChapel.com.
