Judy was a woman of unwavering faith and love for the Lord. She was a devoted member of The Cornerstone Assembly of God for over 35 years, where she played an instrumental role in building the church. In recent years, she became a cherished member of Calvary Temple. Judy found joy in serving her church community, especially through her love of cooking and organizing church dinners.
She had a vibrant and competitive spirit, delighting in family gatherings and games around the holiday table. Judy especially loved flea markets, playing dominos, and taking pride in “beating the brakes off” her grandkids at cards. Her warmth, humor, and love created countless cherished memories for her family and friends.
Judy is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Paul Rister; her son, Jeffrey Rister; two grandchildren, Matthew Rister (Nicole Stasch) and Brittany Rister; and eight great-grandchildren: Kylie, Taylor, Isaac, Gabriel, Sophia, Ava, Sterling, and Lyam. She also leaves behind her nephew, Chuck Julian; her niece, Debra; and a host of dear friends, including Dan and Carolyn Purdue, Jane and Ralph Caldwell, Angie and Bob Hall, and many others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Martha Usery, and her son, Michael Rister.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Judy’s honor to the Vanderburgh Humane Society, reflecting her compassionate heart.
