Josephine A Marsh

Josephine Anne Marsh, 96, went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Riverpoint Nursing Home. Jo was born in 1924 in London England. She grew up during the great depression years and lived through the blitz years in London during World War 2 often sleeping at a London underground station to escape the constant nightly bombing that destroyed parts of the city. These years formed Jo’s character and gave her the determination and strength that she showed throughout her life. Jo worked as a telephone operator for the British government and then at Heathrow airport. In 1949, she and her late husband Tom emigrated to the USA and after a brief spell in Ohio they settled in Evansville. Jo was employed and retired from American General in Evansville. Jo was a member of the Trans Atlantic Brides and Parents Association, active in an English lunch club, volunteered reading on public radio, sang in a choir and volunteered when friends and family needed help. Jo spent her later years at Riverpoint Nursing Home enjoying the company of many. She knew all the staff and enjoyed the activities provided there including day trips, bingo, mass and monthly brunch with friends. Jo was an avid reader and enjoyed daily crossword puzzles to keep her mind active. Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Marsh after 67 years of marriage. She is survived by her loving children, daughter Carla Anne Walters of Evansville; son Christopher James Marsh and daughter-in-law Tonya Sue Marsh of Evansville; two grandsons, Steven Bryant of Evansville and Lorenzo Marsh retired from the US Air Force; two great granddaughters, Mackenzie Dawn Bryant and Jordyn Lynne Bryant both of Evansville; two great great granddaughters Rialeigh and Kenzleigh; sister Gwen Kennedy in Ohio; nieces and nephews in Ohio, Michigan and England. A Visitation Service will be held 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2021 followed by a funeral service at noon at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road. Entombment will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Jo will be both remembered and solely missed.
