He was born on May 19, 1920 to Lana and Ethel (Baird) Weaver in Harrisburg, Illinois. He had 5 siblings. John married Anne (Viers) in 1949 and had three children, Rebecca (stillborn), Craig and Laura.
John was a World War II Veteran and served in the Pacific. He attended school for engineering and worked as a Petroleum Engineer for Tamarack Petroleum Company. John was a quiet man but one of great strength and dignity. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and being with friends and family. He was a huge fan of Illinois University and wanted to watch every game. He didn’t like to talk about the war but he enjoyed going on the Honor Flight, and being the oldest, last year. He was a long time member at McCutchanville Community Church. John is survived by Laura (David) Pugh, grandchildren Elizabeth (Ben) Lovell, Emily (Mitch) Gray and four great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, wife Anne, his daughter Rebecca and son Craig McC. Weaver.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 3 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Alexander North Funeral Home. Service will be held at McCutchanville Community Church at the McJohnston Chapel near the McCutchanville Community Church Campus, on Kansas Road, Monday, March 4 at 10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to McCutchanville Community Church. The family would like to thank the medical staff at Largo Medical Center in Florida for the care of John.
