John William Stahl, 83, of Evansville, passed away Friday, November 21, 2014, at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center. He was born January 2, 1931, in Burnt Prairie, IL, to the late Gust and Pearl (Taylor) Stahl.
He retired from Faultless Caster after 35 years of service and was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War, receiving a Purple Heart. He was a member of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in St. Philip and VFW Post #1114.
John was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Orin (Wilma), Dale (Dorothy), and Carson (Marylou) Stahl.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Leah Colleen (Borah) Stahl; children, Carolyn Elliott, Ron (Lillie) Stahl, Curt Stahl, all of Evansville, Elizabeth (Jerry) Sandoval of Newburgh, and Tricia (Joel) Schmitt of Poseyville; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Verla (John) Anselment of Carmi, IL; brother, Walter (Pat) Stahl of Burnt Prairie, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Monday, November 24, 2014, at Alexander West Chapel, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Monday from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center in Newburgh for their loving care.
