Jeanne Kathryn Byrne, 89, of Evansville, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. She was born May 13, 1927, in Evansville, to the late Judge Harlan B. and Sarah (Schaefer) McCoy.
She graduated from Central High School in 1944 and attended Indiana University, where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. She was wife and mother extraordinaire. Jeanne was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she served as Trustee and held various other positions. She was also a member of Daughters of the American Revolution for over 50 years, where she served on many boards and committees.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Daniel T. Byrne, who passed away 19 years to the day; and sister-in-law, Dr. Grace Knutson.
She is survived by her daughter and primary caregiver, Dr. Joan K. (William) Byrne Biber; sons, Gregg T. (Sharon) Byrne and David Byrne; brother-in-law, Dr. Richard Knutson; two nephews, including special nephew, Paul (Celia) Knutson; great-nephew, William Knutson; grand-godson, Brick Walker; best friend and granddog, Khloe; and friend and caregiver, Marilyn Fink.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. G. Philip Hoy, with entombment in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
