Janice Mildred West

Janice Mildred (Oschman) West, 80, of Evansville, IN, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019, at home. She was born on August 30, 1938 to Henry and Mildred (Hahn) Oschman. Jan was born and raised in German Township and graduated from Reitz High School. She married James in 1954. Jan was a member of St. Paul’s UCC – German Township. She worked for the Evansville Vanderburgh County Building Authority for 30 years as a switchboard operator and receptionist. Jan shared her love of music and her beautiful soprano voice with many throughout the years. She was actively involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, never missing a game or event. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mildred Oschman and husband of 62 years, James M. West. Jan is survived by her daughters, Deborah Kixmiller (Jon), Cynthia Kendall (Mike), and Kimberly Persinger (Michael), and son, Jeffrey West (Stacy); grandchildren, Benjamin Kixmiller (Alex), Elizabeth Kixmiller, Eric Kendall (Ariel), Adam Kendall, Meredeth Persinger, Raylin Wittman (James), Madalyn West, Brooklyn West, Cassie Bagwell (Marcus), and Carly Kaufman; and great grandchildren, Brylee, Landon, Lucas, Woodson, Cooper, Anaya, Kaid, Avelyn, and Keller. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Fr. Ted Tempel, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Family and friends may visit Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
