Houston Lewis Rolley, 78, previously from Evansville, IN passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021. He was born on September 11, 1942, to the late Henry and Grace Rolley.
He was a 1961 graduate of Reitz High School where he played football and golf. He retired from the Evansville Police Department in 1985 after 20 years of service. Houston loved playing golf, fishing and hunting. He started and operated R&S Baits manufacturing fishing lures until retiring to Eddyville, KY and Moore Haven, FL to further enjoy his hobbies.
Houston was preceded in death by his brother, Al Rolley; granddaughter, Haley Link Brinkmeyer; brothers-in-law, Bill Crow, and Ron Crow; sister-in-law, Janna Rolley.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Jane (Crow) Rolley; son, Scott (Sue) Rolley; grandchildren, Deavon (Jeremy) Rolley-White, Evan Brinkmeyer; great grandchild, Malakai Rolley- his ice cream eating buddy; brother, Barry (Julie) Rolley; brothers-in-law, Bob Crow, Jerry (Eileen) Crow, Larry (Sheila) Crow, John Crow; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews to whom he was known as “Uncle Meanie” for his pranks and teasing.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Alexander West Chapel officiated by Pastor Scott Cassel. The Evansville Police Department Honor Guard will perform funeral rites. Burial will follow in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may visit 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 and on Thursday 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
