Helen K. (Rodgers) Mullen, 88, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Friday, April 21, 2017 at Parkview Care Center.
Helen was born in Albion, Illinois on June 12, 1928 to the late Ralph Arnold and Edith (Day) Rodgers. She was a nurses aid for many years and worked for Good Samaritan Home and Visiting Nurses Association. Helen loved to go to the casino, watch the Chicago Cubs, play bingo and clabber, reading, sewing, crocheting, and cooking. She was a very social lady who was a 3 time past-president of the Civitan East Side Chapter, a former member of First Baptist Church, and loved to volunteer with the Special Olympics.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Sally Butler (Mark) of Evansville, IN; sons, Dan Mullen (Linda) of Statesboro, GA, David Mullen of Marion, KY and Randy Mullen (Donna) of Evansville, IN; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 45 years, Ira Mullen; daughter, Phyllis Jean Mullen; brothers, Bryce Rodgers, Paul Rodgers, and Arthur Rodgers; and grandchildren, Kris Mullen and Jerry Mullen.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Browning Funeral Home and again from 9:00 AM until service time on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital, 4400 Clayton Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63110 or Special Olympics of Vanderburgh County, P.O. Box 962, Evansville, IN, 47706.
