She graduated from Reitz High School in 1951. Georgia retired from Bristol Myers after 39 years as a Pharmaceutical Product Coordinator. She also held a diploma in accounting from the International Accounting Society. She was an accomplished Ballroom dancer and taught at the Arthur Murray studios, Fred Astaire studios and numerous other Evansville locations for many years. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, the Petroleum Club, the Kennel Club and the Coterie Dance Club for 37 years.
Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Turner; and parents, Alfred and Edna Niehaus.
She is survived by a son, Marc Finney of Dallas TX; daughter, Pamela Finney Dixon and husband, Vernon; grandson, Aaron Acevedo; two granddaughters, Brianna Acevedo and Audri Chisum; great-grandchildren, Alisha, Katelynn, Arison and Avery, all of Dalhart, TX; brother, Ronald Niehaus and wife, Cheryl; nephews, David and John Niehaus; niece, Amy Niehaus, all of Tampa, FL; and aunt, Margaret Quirey of Evansville.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Deaconess Hospice Staff and Shirley and Mike Paddock for the kindness and compassion shown during Georgia’s final days.
Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Pastor Jeff Long with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit from Tuesday from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
