Estel Eilert Duncan, 95, Evansville, passed away peacefully in her sleep, January 12, 2014. She was born March 11, 1918 in Stendal, Indiana to Oliver and Bertha Poettker Eilert.
Oliver Eilert moved his young family to Mt. Vernon, Indiana to open a farm implement store. Estel graduated in 1935 from Mt. Vernon High School. She married Maurice Duncan on October 1, 1939 and moved to Evansville. She retired from Kent/Ball Plastics.
Estel is preceded in death by her husband Maurice, whom she was married to for 63 years; her parents; sister, Grace; brother, Casper; twin brother, Esto and her daughter, June Duke.
Surviving is a daughter, Susan (Dave) Helfert and their children, Kristen McCollum and Jim Helfert; son, Mike (Kathy) Duncan of Evansville and their children, Mike, Mark and Scott; son, Ron (Connie) Duncan of Iowa and their children, Wade and Matt; grandson, Phillip Duke, whom she raised from 8 years old. She has 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. Estel attended Christian Fellowship Church.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Alexander North Chapel officiated by Pastor David Niednagel with burial at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the funeral home.
