Elena M. Smith

Elena Mae Smith, 90, of Lantana, FL, formerly of Evansville, beloved wife, mother, daughter and friend, passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. She has been reunited in life everlasting with her husband, Harold Martin Smith; her mother and father, John & Bessie Haller; and her brothers, John and Robert Haller.

The former Elena Mae Haller was born on First Street in Evansville and was baptized, married, and saw her own daughter baptized at Bethany Christian Church on Columbia Street where she also sang in the choir. Elena enjoyed a marriage made in heaven for 32 years until she unexpectedly lost the love of her life, Harold, in 1972. She never remarried.

Elena leaves behind a heartbroken, but happy for her, daughter, the former Candace Ann Smith; and a favorite nephew, John Robert Haller.

She was attended to and loved by many at Hamlin Place in Lantana, FL, but especially her second "daughter," Lisa Tucker of Palm Beach County. Angels who assisted her home were Colleen Kelley and Carolina Bertrand.

Burial is in Oak Hill Cemetery, where Elena will finally be reunited next to her Harold.
