Edward Ray Happe, Sr. 76, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Heart to Heart Hospice Center. He was born on September 29, 1946, in Evansville, Indiana to the late Walter E. and Dorothy (Bilbrey) Happe.
Edward loved traveling, camping, fishing, hunting and enjoyed every moment in life. He was a lifelong member of the VFW Post #1114, American Legion and Bucyrus Erie Bowling League. He was a US Air Force Veteran serving in Thailand, visiting three times after serving there. Edward was the Superintendent over the Port in Mt. Vernon. He had worked at Bucyrus Erie for 20 years where he was a dedicated hard worker. He retired after 25 years from Mt. Vernon Barge Company.
Edward is survived by his companion, Kai Christmas; mother of his children, Paulette Happe; sons, Edward Happe, Jr. (Ann) and Troy Happe; grandchildren, Clinton Happe (Caty), Clay Happe (Ellie Schmitt), and Lynzie Lancaster; great grandchildren, Camryn and Chase Happe; sisters, Doris Kissinger and Debbie West; brother, Randy Happe; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at St. Anthony Church, 704 First Avenue, officiated by Fr. Steve Lintzenich, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Alexander North Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice.
