Don Bender

Don G. Bender, 74, passed away, Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born January 5, 1939, in Evansville to the late Basil and Cora Mae Bender. He graduated from Bosse High School in 1957 and retired from Whirlpool in June, 2001, after 38 years. He worked part time at Sears for 10 years from September, 1970 until September, 1980. Don served in the Air Force Reserves for 27 years and was a US Coast Guard Auxiliary member for 47 years. He worked Thunder on the Ohio for 22 years and was an amateur radio operator for many years. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Helt and sister, Patricia Ann Baker. Don is survived by his daughter, Dorothy Yates (Ron), Evansville, IN; sons, Darren Bender, Chandler, IN, Dan Bender (Jody), Boonville, IN; sister, Dorothy Wanninger, Evansville; several grandchildren; and half-brother, Harold B. Bender, Evansville. Services will be 2:00PM, Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, with burial following.
