David Allen Coomer

David Allen Coomer, of Evansville, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at the age of 76. He was born on November 16, 1946 in Vincennes, Indiana to the late Jesse and Marie (Oexmann) Coomer. David graduated from Lincoln High School in 1964 and immediately began working for Bob Lamb, learning floor covering, and eventually owning and operating Coomer’s Carpets. He ended his 40-year career at Rasure Floor Covering and was considered by many, a master of his craft. Some of David’s favorite activities included horseback riding, hunting, and fishing with family and friends. Over the years, he served the Lord through youth ministry, church van volunteer, and mission work in both Argentina and South Africa. He was also blessed to have visited The Holy Land. David is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Darmstadt. He loved the Lord and was very proud of his family. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henderson and Dora Coomer and Edward and Emma Oexmann. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Kathryn (Stephens) Coomer; daughters, Dawn Velasquez (Paul), Tonya Shelton (Dennis), and Amy Deford (Court); son, David Scott (Debra); granddaughters, Kayla Timmons, Hannah Scott, Maliyah Northam, Isabella Bush, Piper Deford, and Teale Deford; grandsons, Nicholas Shelton and Ren Deford; great-grandchildren, Rueben Timmons, Zemirah Scott, and Thompson Northam; sisters, Rose Johnson and Jane Henwood; brother, Steve Coomer; nieces, Jami Hutton, Janet York, and Deborah Dunn; and nephews, Craig Johnson, Scott Henwood, and Jesse Coomer. The family would like to thank the 3900 ICU unit and hospice caregivers at Deaconess Midtown for their amazing love and care. Funeral Services will be held at Noon on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Darmstadt with Pastor Keith Knea officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church.
