 Obituario de Daniel Ray Dickerson
Daniel Ray Dickerson, 64, of Evansville, IN went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 23, 2022. He was born on August 8th, 1958 to Ray and Ruth Dickerson (Hatchett). He was married for 45 years to the love of his life, Mary Jo (Scott) Dickerson, and together they raised two children. Dan loved the Lord, and lived out his faith as he loved and served others. Dan was a talented musician, and in his early 20's had his own band "The D Dickerson Band", playing at wedding receptions and various local venues. He was a faithful member at First Christian Church Evansville, and used his musical gifts serving on the Worship Team for many years. He also served as a youth sponsor, Deacon, Elder, and on mission trips to Haiti. He helped start a monthly Men's Breakfast, led a Men's Bible Study, and was part of a weekly small group with his wife. He was part of the Tres Dias, Kairos, and Bible Study Fellowship Communities. He was an avid runner, running five marathons, including the Boston Marathon with a time of 3:32:21. As he ran countless miles around town training, God opened his eyes to the needs of the homeless under the bridges and on the streets. He started ministering to them with food and Jesus, and quickly became known as Dan the Sandwich Man and Dan the Prayer Man. This led to Dan serving at the Rescue Mission with a Worship Band, and hosting annual Christmas Dinner. After retiring from Electronic Research INC (ERI) in 2020, he started wood carving with a group of men at his church, known as the "Woodchucks". He found much joy in carving and gifting them to many. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo, son, Benjamin (Courtnie) Dickerson, and daughter, Kelly (Buster) Mann. He was blessed with six grandchildren, Trevan, Bristol and Anslee Dickerson, and Riley, Karley, and Kylee Mann. He always told them he was "Papaw, because I told you so!" He is also survived by three sisters, Karen (Marvin) Daniels, Cheryl Fisher, Kimberly (Wayne) Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Theresa Parish. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 30th, 2022 at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Rd., officiated by Pastor Jerry Clark, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29th, 2022 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church of Evansville Youth Group, 2845 Beaumont Dr, Evansville, IN 47725 Condolences may be offered at www.AlexanderNorthChapel.com.
