Barbara Jean Williams, 87, formerly of Evansville, IN passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at the Chateaus of Montclair in Shreveport, LA. She was born on February 16, 1937 in Evansville to the late Carl R. and Mildred E. (East) Boyd.
Jean was a longtime member of Vann Avenue Baptist Church since 1976. She retired from St. Mary’s Hospital as the Lab Manager. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family.
In her early years, Jean enjoyed playing the piano for church. She was very competitive in the game of Scrabble and loved playing many other games with her grandchildren. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts and IU college basketball fan. Jean was also a 58 year breast cancer survivor.
She retired early with her husband, Bob, and they traveled to all 50 states in their motorhome. They were snowbirds and spent winters in Arizona, Texas, and Florida. They owned an old Corvair and enjoyed riding around town and were members of several Corvair groups. They also belonged to FMCA motorhome group. She was an avid picture-taker and loved taking photos of family, friends, and her travels. She loved organizing, labeling and dating all the photos to share with others.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert R. Williams; son, Randall Williams; and sister, Beverly Cotten.
She is survived by her daughters, Melody Spilker (David), Lisa Andrews (John); daughter-in-law, Diane Williams; grandchildren, Joshua Spilker (Ashley), Karen Howell (Marty), Jennifer Williams, Valerie Williams, Jacob Andrews, Kyle Andrews (Kaitlyn) and Joe Williams; great grandchildren, Arianna Howell, Bernie Howell, Evelyn Spilker, Miriam Spilker, Beaux Andrews, Larkin Wheeler, Maggie Andrews, and one on the way, Carter Andrews; sisters, Ruth Holcomb and Linda Cox.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, with Larry Lewis officiating. Entombment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. The service will be live-streamed at www.Facebook.com/FuneralStreamUSA.
