Barbara Ann “Barb” (Crites) Runyon, 96, of Evansville passed away on January 14, 2024. Barb was born in Louisville, KY to Carl and Lois Crites on February 8, 1927. She worked for Veach, Nicholson and Associates for 25 years until her retirement.
Barb married the love of her life Charles (Chuck) Runyon on July 23, 1952. They were married for 45 years. They shared the love of music and traveling. She also loved her cat, Sassy. They were the best of friends. Barb enjoyed UE and IU basketball. She never missed a game on TV. For many years Barb enjoyed having breakfast or lunch at The Carousel Restaurant and visiting with friends.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She is survived by her sister, Sherra Woolet; niece, Cheryl Callis (Bill); nephew, Mark Zehnder (Kathy); cousin, Skip Zehnder (Kathy); great nieces; great nephews; and many friends.
The family and friends would like to thank the Heritage Center, especially the Harbor Unit Staff, for taking such good care of Barb. Many of them became like family to her. Barb will be missed by her family and special friends, Patty and Daryl and their family.
There will be a visitation on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 301 S.E. First St., Evansville, IN followed by a Memorial Service at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Holly Zaher will officiate the services with inurnment to be held afterwards in the Church Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Church or the Vanderburgh Humane Society.
