Jean White, 85, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at Deaconess Hospital. She was born November 1, 1929, in Greenville, SC to the late Clarence Broadus and Lottie Lula (Craft) Cooper.
She had worked at The ARC of Evansville since 1971, holding many positions: Interim Manager of Adult Day Services, Commensurate Wage Analyst, Coordinator of Work Services, Lead Case Manager for Work Services, Services Coordinator, Case Manager and Teacher in the Child Life Center. She was essential in starting many programs at ARC and will be greatly missed. Jean was a devoted wife to her husband, who was a Southern Baptist Pastor. She helped her husband with many church activities. She will be greatly missed by her husband, sons, daughter, and family. She loved sports, playing league softball up in to her 70’s, the Evansville Aces, the Indiana Hoosiers, and gardening. She was an excellent cook.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert L. White; sons, Scot (Terry) and Thomas White; daughter, Jeanna (Terry) Costello; brother, Wayne Cooper; sisters, Margaret (Carey) Sightler and Frances (Perdue) Edwards; grandchildren, Krista (Jerimiah) Bryl, Elizabeth (Eric) Burgdorf, and Robby and Russell Christian; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Alexander East Chapel, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
