John James Schaal

John was born December 25, 1937 in Prosser, Washington and passed away January 26, 2011 in Eureka, California. He grew up on a farm and served over 20 years in the Navy. He loved golfing, gardening, traveling, playing cards, the outdoors, and football. He is survived by his wife Marie F. Schaal; daughters Michelle Petersen and Genise Tweedy; sons-in-law Dana Petersen and Damon Tweedy; sisters Violet Vollmer, Esther Smith, Leah Walker; brother Leonard Schaal; grandchildren Tanner Tweedy, Soleil Petersen, Sierra Tweedy, Keera Petersen; nieces and nephews Karen, Mark, Susan, Debbie, Linda, Janet, Patty, David, Cindy, Tim, Gary, Sharon, Dick, Karing, Chris, Eddie. He is preceded in death by father John G. Schaal; mother Mary Knodel Schaal; brothers Arthur Schaal, Lewis Schaal; son Michael. There will be a visitation at Pierce Mortuary Wednesday February 2, 2011 from 3-7 PM. Services will be held at First Covenant Church, 2526 J Street, Eureka, on Thursday February 3, 2011 at 2 PM. Pastor Dennis Hartman will be officiating. Burial will take place at Eagle Point National Cemetery, Eagle Point, Oregon. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society .
