Chesteria T. Mafrice (Nee Dziubinski) On Saturday, July 30, 2016 of Bridgeville, formerly of Morningside; Chesteria “Chessie” was born October 30, 1924, the first child of Zygmunt and Mary Dziubinski. She was preceded in death by sisters Genevieve Lesko and Victoria Taylor and was survived by siblings Zygmunt, Florence Wetzel , Lucille Hudak and Rosalie Yobst. Chessie grew up in Sharpsburg before marrying Lou Mafrice, her husband of nearly 73 years, on August 14, 1943. Chessie and Lou lived on Morningside for more than 50 years while raising their four children, Valerie (Ron) Miller, Louise (Jim) Barner, Lorraine (Bob) Schmidt and Lou, Jr. (Alicia Hawkins). They moved to Plum borough in 1997 and then again to Country Meadows in Bridgeville in 2014. Chessie was also survived by 8 grandchildren; Alyssa (Miller) Kelley, Aric Miller, Danielle (Barner) Hazard, Adam Barner, Andrea (Miller) Allison, Natalie (Barner) Roth, Robert Schmidt and Carson Mafrice and 11 great grandchildren; Ian & Owen Kelley, Cooper, Brandt, Grady & Eliza Hazard, Madelyne, Ava & Catherine Miller and Levi & Hadley Roth. Chessie worked throughout her life including the USO while Lou served in the U. S. Army during WWII and later at Gimbels Department Store in downtown Pittsburgh for 26 years, accepting promotions including Executive Administrative Assistant. She enjoyed sports including golf, bowling, billiards and swimming. Chessie also enjoyed playing board games and card games with family and friends. She also engaged in community volunteer work, taking on the position of Girl Scout troop leader for a period of time, and was a member of a number of social organizations including the Red Hats Club, the Polish Falcons of America, the Italian Sons & Daughters of America and the 13th Armored Division Assoc. Friends received Monday 10:30 – 12:30 PM in St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1118 Chislett Street, Morningside, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held following visitation at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in Chessie’s name be made to the 365 Hospice 1-844-365-4677.
