Estes Park, CO- Mr. Ross William Stephen, 71, passed away peacefully November 28, 2018. Born in York, NE to Claire and William Stephen, Ross grew up in Brighton, CO. He heard his country calling during his time at CSU and decided to join the army, graduating from the US Army Artillery and Missile OCS, class 15 of 1967. He then went to serve as first lieutenant in Vietnam, where he acted as a forward observer in the DMZ and also as a village liaison. Ross was a proud graduate of CSU, with a Bachelor’s of Science in Landscape Architecture, following a successful 20+ year career in construction. He served Estes well with his creative landscape designs and trade work. Dad shared his love and passion with friends as an avid golfer and CU football fan-a season ticket holder since 1979. He rarely missed a game or morning tee time. Ross was dedicated to the family he and Grace raised, as a true servant to his children's sporting events and talent shows. He was their number one fan. Ross is survived by his wife of 38 years, Grace, their daughter Kristie, daughter Jennie Dreiling and son-in-law Jackson, son Jeff and daughter-in-law Amy, and sister Barbie Flannigan. He was the proudest Papa of four beautiful grandkids, Josh, Jack, Norah, and Blaire. He is preceded in death by his son Josh, parents William and Claire and sister Beverly. Anyone who knows Ross knows how he would wish that you cherish the time with your families, tee off with a friend, tell a few jokes and root for the Buffs! A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies on Saturday, December 8th, at 11:00 AM , followed by a celebration reception at The American Legion Post 119. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Estes Valley Junior Golf Program (PO Box 1379, Estes Park, CO 80517) and register to become an organ donor.
