Joseph T Walsh, age 76, of Estes Park, CO passed away suddenly after a brief illness on December 30, 2022. He was born in Chicago, IL on December 28, 1946 to John "Jack" and Helen (Viscum) Walsh. Joe attended St. Vincent DePaul Seminary in Lemont, IL, graduating in 1964. He continued his education at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL, where he earned a degree in photography, graduating in 1969. He married Rosemary (Szafranski) on October 4, 1969 and they resided in Joliet, IL until October 2000.
Joe enjoyed photography, skiing, trains, his dog Ani, and especially his grandchildren! He was a member of the Illinois National Guard for eight years. He started his career at the Joliet Camera House and joined the Joliet Fire Department in 1971 where he achieved the rank of Deputy Fire Chief. After moving to Estes Park, he failed at retirement and decided to drive the local shuttle for Rocky Mountain Transit Company, retiring a second time in 2013 as the General Manager. He was also a proud member of the local chapter of the Train Collectors Association (TCA).
Joe is survived by his wife Rose (Rosemary), daughter Joy (Wobido), son-in-law Andrew Wobido, sister Rebecca Videtic, and grandchildren Jacob and Jacy Wobido. He is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Helen Walsh.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the ASPCA in memory of Joe. These were two charities close to his heart.
