MCCOY (Baker), Lois M., 100, passed away peacefully Friday, September 19, 2014. She was born April 11, 1914 in Vandalia, Ohio, one of four daughters of Arthur and Ida (Recher) Bittner, who precede her in death. Also preceding her are two sisters Evelyn Stevens and Miriam Dalton. Lois graduated from Fairview High School in Dayton where she fell in love with her sweetheart, Jim Baker. Once through school they married and had a daughter, Pat Currie who now lives in Westerville, Ohio. Lois’ sweetheart Jim Baker passed away after 37 years of marriage. She then met a wonderful man, Jim McCoy and they married and enjoyed their retirement years in Florida. Jim’s family welcomed her and made her part of their family. Sadly after 28 years of marriage Jim McCoy passed away. Also predeceasing Lois were Jim’s son Jim McCoy Jr. and daughter Libby McCoy – Morris. Lois is survived by her daughter Pat, grandson Mark (Jackie) Billman, granddaughter Kim (Jeremy) Cerino. Great-grandchildren surviving are Kristy Billman, Brian Billman and Angela Cerino – Knott. She was delighted when she became a great-great-grandmother and at 100 was able to attend the baptism of her great-great-granddaughter Harper Knott. Her sister Virginia Koogler has been a special friend as well as Lois’ nephew’s Steve (Christina) Koogler, Greg (Kathy) Koogler all survive. Survivors from Jim McCoy’s family include his daughter-in-law Peggy McCoy and son-in-law Bill Morris; his grandchildren also survive David (Bert) Morris, Dan (Caren) Morris, Doug (Wendy) Morris, Diane (Jim) Williams and Mark McCoy. Lois was the daughter of a minister and grew up in the years where money was scarce and she learned the value of hard work. She was fastidious, positive, generous and had many friends. She had worked as a Bookkeeper/Teller at the Winter’s Bank in Dayton for many years. There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME ENGLEWOOD CHAPEL, 675 West Wenger Road Friday, September 26, 2014 starting at 1:00 pm followed by a Celebration of her life at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery, Brookville, Ohio next to her sweetheart Jim Baker. Lois’ family would like to extend a special Thank You to the Trillium Retirement Community in Columbus for their loving care, with a special Thanks to Jenna.
