Joyce "Jan" Ann Murphy

Joyce Ann ‘Jan’ Murphy, 62, of Port Charlotte, FL died Friday, April 12, 2019, after a short battle with lung cancer. Jan was born on July 14, 1956 in Marion, IN. After high school she went to cosmetology school and was a talented hair stylist for over 40 years. She made Englewood her home in her early twenties when her parents retired to FL. In the early 90’s she owned and operated her own salon Englewood Barber & Beauty on Dearborn Street. Until her death she was still styling people’s hair at the New Wave Hair Salon also on Dearborn Street. She was full of life and loved spending time with her family, cooking and baking, doing crafts and researching her family tree. She leaves behind her only child, daughter, Jona Quinn of Port Charlotte, FL and son-in-law John and two grandsons Sean (18) and Brady (9); several nieces and nephews who were like her children, Tara Dunn, Ken Coppock, Greg Coppock, Cassi Barajas and Cory Wright. Jan was preceded in death by her parents Pat and Sarah Murphy, sisters Cyndie and Patsy.
