Charles A. Augustine

Charles Angelo Augustine; a husband, a father, a friend to many, and a man of God, passed away peacefully on April 6th, 2021. Charles, who was known to his close friends and family as “Charlie”, was born on July 22nd, 1954, and was raised and resided in Poughkeepsie, NY where he was a proud Operating Engineer of the local 137 for most of his life. Charlie was always known for the love of his favorite football team, the NY Giants, in which he attended regular games as a super fan, and some of his best memories were made with his very close friends and family. Although Charlie loved his hometown, his heart truly lie where the sun shines, and the waves meet the sand. His wife, Shelly, and him, moved to Englewood, Florida a few years ago, where he was able to enjoy his days gardening, and fishing regularly at any waterway he could find. Though Charlie was a lover of the sport, his family will always remember how he may have owned every fishing pole and lure known to man, but he just could never catch a single fish. This however, speaks about his heart, in that Charlie was a patient, persistent, and caring man, who put his faith in the Lord with everything he had. Charlie attended Changepoint Church back in Poughkeepsie, where his faith grew strong. He continued to walk with the Lord after his move to Florida at Foundation Church, where he touched many lives and made numerous lifelong friends. Charlie enjoyed spending time with close friends and family, cooking and grilling for everyone, and simply living in the moment. At the end of the day however, Charlie’s favorite past time was sitting on the beaches of Englewood, Florida, and smoking his cigars.

Charles A. Augustine, son of Sam Augustine, and June Denman, is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Shelly M. Augustine, his first daughter, Sharon M. Augustine, second daughter and son-in-law, Chelsea M. Flanders and Jonathon “Corey” Flanders, and his son, Ryan C. Efantes. He also left behind several brother and sister-in-law’s, and very close friends, who he considered his family. It was his wishes for his immediate family to have a private ceremony at the beach. A celebration of his life will be held in his honor for family and friends at a later date, which further details will be poster about on Charlie’s page on caringbridge.com
