Sharon McNeece Roesser passed away peacefully on April 3, 2023 in San Diego surrounded by her loving family. Sharon was born at Mercy Hospital in San Diego in 1928, the second child and eldest of the four daughters of John and Angela McNeece. She grew up in El Centro and enjoyed spending summers at the family home in Pine Valley and in La Jolla where she learned to swim at the Children's Beach and had her first toll house cookie. She attended Our Lady of Peace Academy and graduated from Immaculate Heart College. She was married by Bishop Buddy (the first bishop of San Diego) in June 1950 to the love of her life, John Roesser, and was happily married for 60 years. They moved to Encino where they raised their six children and were active members of St. Cyril's Catholic Church for over 50 years before retiring in San Diego in 2002.
Sharon delighted in a good party, was the consummate hostess, and always set beautiful tables for gatherings big or small. She had an adventurous spirit, was an avid reader, loved flowers and always maintained a beautiful garden. She enjoyed playing bridge and tennis, and regularly attended daily Mass. She liked bright colors (especially green and yellow) and was always impeccably dressed. Sharon loved people and was extremely friendly, kind and thoughtful. She often left encouraging notes and treats for her neighbors, always had a smile on her face and a positive attitude, and never had an unkind word to say.
Sharon lived her life with great faith, grace and dignity and was loved by everyone who knew her. She is survived by her six children, 17 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and two sisters.
A Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life are being held in her honor at The Church of the Nativity in San Diego.
