James Steven Altschuler was unexpectedly granted his angel wings on December 1, 2023 at the young age of 36. A loving family member, friend, neighbor, colleague, mentor, athlete, and entrepreneur; always giving to others with his full heart. James touched so many throughout his short, yet very memorable life.
Born April 22, 1987 in Fresno, CA, James grew up with a bustling family life, engaged in his faith and involved in many sports. He set records as a young quarter back at Hoover High School and carried his athleticism with him throughout the rest of his life, including his love of golf and running many half and full marathons.
Soon after graduating from the University of California, Santa Barbara, James started his career with Procore as one of the first 10 employees, ultimately becoming a top executive and leader. He was instrumental in helping the company grow and expand into new markets, all while mentoring several colleagues along the way.
In late 2012, James moved to San Diego where he enjoyed the many beaches, long runs, great food scene, new friends, and hosting gatherings for family and neighbors at his home. Throughout his last year, he checked off several momentous bucket list items, including travel to various locations, golfing 7 rounds at Bandon Dunes and many others.
James will be remembered for his radiant smile, his passion for his community, his calm demeanor, his work ethic and for loving so many people in his life. He is survived by his adoring parents, Steve and Nancy Altschuler, three siblings, three nieces, two nephews, his beloved grandmother Dorothea, Aunts Krissi, and Martha and Caroline Harnly, his Uncle Kevin, and loving companion.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 16 at 11:00am at Seacoast Community Church in Encinitas, CA. A live streaming option will be available.
