Heaven gained a bright and shining star on the evening of March 31, 2021. Paul William Myers, born on October 19, 1930 in Massillon, Ohio passed peacefully in the home of his daughter, Kathy, in Bradenton, Florida. Paul was a gentle soul that touched many lives on his path throughout this life. While at Massillon Washington High School, he played baritone in the Tiger Swing Band. There he met the love of his life, Janice Studer, whom he married in 1952 and shared 61 years of marriage until her passing in 2014.
Paul was a proud Navy veteran, serving from 1952-1955 on the Mighty Mindoro. He retired from Westfield Insurance after 38 years as a Senior Claims Adjuster. He also served as President of the Canton Claims Association and enjoyed organizing the Annual Golf Outing at Elms County Club for many years. A member of Lathrop Lodge in Canton, Paul was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Sahib Shrine in Sarasota, Florida. Paul and Janice retired to Ellenton, Florida and spent many happy years there. They enjoyed travelling, particularly cruising, and attending Manatee Players Theater with many special and treasured friends.
Surviving him are his daughter Kathy, and son David (Silvia) Myers of Westerville, Ohio. He has two grandchildren, Massillon and Cherish Myers, whom he loved dearly. Preceding him in death are his parents, Mervill and Mary (Ziegler) Myers and his sisters, Eleanor Wagoner, Janet Schmidt and Lois Jones.
Honoring Paul’s wishes, there will be no services. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Massillon, Ohio. The family wishes to express their overwhelming gratitude to Tidewell Hospice for the exceptional and loving care they gave to Paul.
