Dale Bennett Desselle, 79, of Snead Island Florida died Thursday, September 26, 2024. Mr. Desselle was born on August 21,1945 in Baton Rouge, LA. He is the son of the late Leroy Cutter Desselle and the late Ruth Celeste Bennett Desselle. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Dale Desselle.
Mr. Desselle served in the United States Navy. Upon his discharge from the Navy, he worked for Chase Manhattan Bank in New York. It was while in New York, he met his future wife and moved to Atlanta, GA to be close to her. He graduated from Georgia State University. While earning his degree, he worked part time for his Father-in-Law at Davis-Neal, Inc. in Atlanta. Upon graduation, he worked briefly for Monsanto in Decatur, AL and then returned to Atlanta for a position with Chubb and Sons before returning to Davis-Neal and becoming the company’s President and Chief Operating Officer.
Dale’s idea of leisure time was a good construction project either at his home or at the company’s building. He loved working with his hands. When his children were school age, he became both a proud card-carrying Girl Scout and Boy Scout. He enjoyed watching and participating in his children’s activities with these organizations.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Carole Davis Desselle of Snead Island, Florida, and his daughter, Amanda (William) Richards of North Port, Fl; his two step-grandsons Alex Richards of Centralia, WA and Gavin Richards of National City, CA; two sisters, Dianne Salmon, Birmingham, AL and Kay Lockwood, Katy, TX; nieces, Cindy Jacks of Birmingham, AL and Dominique Gleason of Katy, TX and several great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 5,2024 at 10:00AM Mansion Memorial Park, 1400 36th Avenue East, Ellenton, FL 34222. Arrangements by Groover Funeral Home.
