She was born January 14, 1931 in Ellensburg to Charles and Clara McClure. She was next to the youngest of 9 children.
Her family moved from Ellensburg to Dycusburg, Kentucky where she attended grade school then back to Ellensburg. Kathy worked at the “Pix” and “Liberty” Theaters during her high school years. She met Gilbert Rushton at the Rialto Roller Skate Rink in Roslyn. They were married on December 4, 1948 in Ellensburg – Celebrating almost 69 years. To this union, 4 children were born.
Kathy was an accomplished seamstress, gardener, cook and all-around homemaker. Many members of her family and friends have one or two of her crocheted afghans. She worked at many other jobs in her adult life besides raising her children – Ski Acres, Ellensburg Cannery, and Cle Elum Motel. Perhaps most of all, she and Gib were a daily presence at the Union 76 in Cle Elum for many years where you could find her multi-tasking. She and Gib spent many years camping at their cabin in Salmon La Sac and Fish Lake. They also enjoyed fishing in the San Juan’s.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Marie, Virginia and Mary Lee; brothers JD, James, Harold and RB; her son Gerald (Jerry) Rushton and her granddaughter Kimberly Edgar. She is survived by her loving husband Gilbert; children Cecelia Mosher, Victoria Mautino and Thomas Rushton; Grandsons Connor and Cameron Rushton; sister Ella McClure.
Graveside service will be Saturday, October 7 at 1:00 p.m. at the Roslyn Memorial Gardens. A potluck reception will follow the service at the Roslyn Eagles.
The family suggests donations be sent to Roslyn Fire Department in lieu of flowers.
