Rich was a home delivery milkman in Massachusetts and met his bride Barbie when their paths crossed at the sub shop she ran with her father. He loved to sail but sold his boat to buy her a ring. Married for over 36 years, they had beautiful children together and a life surrounded by family and friends in both Massachusetts and Maryland. Rich had a deep love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he presided over a congregation in Massachusetts as Bishop for 5 years and taught early morning seminary to high school students.
Rich was a sponge for knowledge, continuously reading and teaching others all that he knew. He loved a good brain teaser and was always the one to go to for help with math homework. Rich was never at a loss for a story to tell or a dad joke to lighten the mood. He encouraged his children to try new things without fear of failure. He supported them in all their endeavors and was filled with joy when they found something they were passionate about.
Rich loved adventure. In his younger years, he backpacked with his brother and used the same tents, years later, to camp with his children. He could bodysurf any wave on Cape Cod and ate clams right out of the sand. His love of lacrosse led him to coach the Barnstable High School team for two years. He also had an avid love for volleyball, tennis, and basketball.
He was very thoughtful and enjoyed getting Barbie things he knew she really loved; a crystal vase, a beautiful dress, her favorite chocolates that he had discovered on his milk route. He always said he found everything he loved on his milk route: his dog, his wife, and his faith.
