Patricia J. Hammer

Patricia attended Western High School class of 1953. Soon after, she started working at BG&E where she met her future husband R. James Hammer while he was working there during his summer break from college. The couple were married on November 20, 1955. Their love spanned 64 years until Roland’s death on July 8, 2019.

Patricia lived in Annapolis, MD while R. James was in the Army stationed at the Naval Academy, and then they moved to Randallstown in 1957. In 1964, they moved to Ellicott City in Howard County Maryland and resided there before retiring to Naples Florida in 2000.

She was a wife and homemaker until 1973 when she went to work for Kelly Services as a Branch Manager until 1986 when she retired. During her career, she managed the Security-Woodlawn and Columbia locations.

She was a member of the Howard County Garden Club and President of the Garden Club in Naples. She enjoyed playing Pinochle, Bowling, and Golf.

Upon her husband’s retirement in 1994, they became snowbirds, spending the winters in Naples Florida and the balance of the time in Ellicott City. In 2000, they decided to move to Naples Florida and had a home built in Longshore Lakes.

In December of 2020, Patricia moved back to Maryland to be closer to her family. She was residing at Brightview Rolling Hills in Catonsville, MD.

Cherished Gramm of Kyle Fullmer of Arlington, VA, Tyler Fullmer of Frederick, MD and his wife Amber, Ryan Hammer of White Marsh, MD and his wife Alyssa, Drew Hammer of Baltimore, MD, Stephen Shaughness of Greenville, SC, Courtney Shaughness of Rock Hill, SC, and Kellie Shaughness of Fort Mill, SC. Great-Gramm of Juliana Rae Hammer of White Marsh, MD. Cherished sister of Joan Burgess and her husband Steve of Naples, FL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Patricia’s name to Gilchrist Hospice of Columbia, MD.
