George Myron Perry, formerly of Elkridge, Md, died peacefully at Sunrise of Columbia, MD, on July 31, 2019, at the age of 91. He is survived by his children, Kathy Horsey and husband Danny, Lois Perry and husband Charlie Menefee, and Georgina Roos and husband Rickey; his grandson, Jeffrey Hildebrand and wife Khalia; and three great-grandchildren, Faith, Sophia and Connor. Cherished brother of Stuart and the late Maryon and Karl (George's identical twin). Gladys, his wife of 67 years, predeceased him in January 2018.
Although George was born in New York, he lived in Nova Scotia, Canada, for much of his young life, and always maintained a strong emotional connection with Canada, and with the members of his extended family who live there. Following graduation from Nova Scotia Technical College, George returned to the United States, where he served in the US Army during the Korean War. He subsequently worked at the Westinghouse Corporation in Baltimore as a mechanical engineer until his retirement in 1991.
George will be remembered as a dedicated member of the choir of Grace Episcopal Church in Elkridge, as a talented engineer with a knack for fixing almost anything, and for his undying devotion to his wife Gladys.
The family would like to thank the Grace Church congregation, the wonderful staff at Sunrise of Columbia, and the nurses, therapists and volunteers of Gilchrist Hospice for their care of both George and Gladys over the years.
A celebration of life will be held at Grace Episcopal Church located at 5805 Main Street, Elkridge, MD 21075 at 10:00 on Saturday, August 24, 2019. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Grace Episcopal Church or the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org).
