Charles “Chuck” Martin Hubbell, age 53, of Williamsburg, born and raised in the Grand Traverse Area, died June 19, 2010, at his home surrounded by family. Charles was born November 10, 1956 in Traverse City, Michigan, to Harold R. Hubbell and Carol J. Kennedy. Charles married Carleen Ann Pantano on March 2, 1991 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
Charles was a teacher in the Kalkaska school district since 1985, immersing himself within the school and the community, giving generously, a silent champion to many. Charles was an avid bike rider and a member of the Cherryland Cycle Club. Charles being a devout family man first and foremost enjoyed quality summer activities with his family and enjoyed involving his daughters in biking whether on road or off road. Besides his love and devotion to his family, Charles was a member of New Hope Community Church and worked for the Beach Bums last summer. Charles loved sports whether live or on TV and coached within the Kalkaska and Elk Rapids school districts.
Charles is survived by his cherished wife Carleen, proud father of daughters Whitney and Elena, siblings: Leslie (Geralyn) Hubbell of West Branch, Donn (Jerrison) Hubbell of Cadillac, Holly (Daniel) Kaidan of Chester, New Jersey, his beloved parents, many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, caring Mother-in-Law Mary Pantano of Centerline, and many in-laws.
There will be a visitation Wednesday June 23 at Covell Funeral Homes Elk Rapids Chapel from 3 – 6 and from 7 – 9pm. A funeral service will be held Thursday June 24 at 11am at New Hope Community Church. A luncheon will be held at the church following the service. There will be a private graveside service at Maple Grove Cemetery, Elk Rapids.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or to a college fund for the girls. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered at www.covellfuneralhomes.com . Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home in Elk Rapids.
