Mary Emma Allen

Mary was a lifelong member of Severns Valley Baptist Church where she also taught Sunday School. Her faith was an integral part of her life. It was the lens through which she viewed the world. She obtained her master’s degree in Library Science from Western Kentucky University and went on to work in the Library at Elizabethtown High School and spent 10 years as the Librarian at Bardstown High School before retiring. She will be so greatly missed.

She is survived by her children, Steve Allen (Brenda) and Mary Evelyn Kirkpatrick; grandchildren, Ashley Coomes (Val), Kate Allen, Margaret Patterson (Ty), Joe Allen (Ariel), Olivia Allen (Nicholas), Caleb Kirkpatrick (Jenna), and Christina Kirkpatrick; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Allen, Finley Thompson, Easton Allen, Samantha Lawrence, Everleigh Allen, Piper Kirkpatrick, and Reid Patterson; siblings, Frank Finley, Lawrence Finley, and Tommy Finley; and many other extended family and friends.

Mary was preceded in passing by her loving husband, Bernard “Ben” Earl Allen; son, David Allen; granddaughter, Samantha Thompson; and sister Teresa Dowell.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 17th, from 1 to 4 PM, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A service to celebrate her life will take place following visitation on Sunday at 4 PM. She will be laid to rest at Jolly Cemetery in Hardinsburg, KY, on Monday afternoon at 2 PM.
