He was born in Glendale and a 1956 graduate of Glendale High School. He attended Campbellsville College and Western Ky University. Don was the purchasing agent for the NCO clubs on Ft. Knox and managed the Officers Country Club there. He spent six years in the 138th field artillery and was a mess sargent for five of those years. In the fall of 1963, he started at E'town Sportswear and was the plant manager when the plant closed, working a total of 38 and one half years. He was also a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for over 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mable Louise Osborne and his parents, Charles and Lucille Wheeler Osborne.
He is survived by a daughter, Anita (James) Shepherd of Elizabethtown; 2 sons, Doug Osborne and Duane Osborne, both of Wichita, KS.; 2 brothers, Ken (Faye) Osborne and Larry (Diane) Osborne, both of Elizabethtown; 2 sisters, Brenda (Ron) Lucas of Versailles, KY and Melinda (Wayne) Noe of Elizabethtown and 5 grandchildren,
Charlie, Mary, Gracie, Lily and Chapman Osborne.
His funeral will be 11 am Tuesday at Immanuel Baptist Church with Revs. Charles Darland and Mike Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home and continues after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
