He was a native of Cecilia, served in the U.S. Army and was a member of St. James Catholic Church where he was a dedicated catholic. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus council #1455, St. Vincent DePaul Society, St. James Bereavement Committee and was a volunteer at Room at the Inn. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Teamsters Union.
Ben was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Sue Pirtle Cooper; a daughter, Tara Cooper and his parents, William J. and Marguerite Clark Cooper.
Survivors include his son, Benjamin Joshua (Hilary) Cooper; two brothers, Bill Cooper and Jimmy (Marquita) Cooper; one sister, Gail (Sonny) Ashlock; two grandchildren, Benjamin Jase and Eli Cooper and many cousins and friends.
The funeral will be Frday at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Chuck Walker officiating. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and continue after 9 a.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Knights of Columbus Council #1455.
