On Saturday, July 1 7, 2021 Tommie transitioned from his earthly home in El Paso, Texas. At an early age he joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church where he served faithfully until graduating from Jefferson County High School in 1970. He then ventured to Washington, DC and enrolled in Dental School where he earned a degree in Dental Technology. After dental school he joined the U.S. Army. Tommie served with pride in the military. During this time, he earned multiple awards, honors and medals. On June 10, 1972 he was united in holy matrimony to Pecolia Chiles. To this union, three wonderful sons were born. After 23 years of military service he retired as a Master Sargent where he and his family made El Paso, Texas their home. Tommie was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Hines, Sr. and Della Mae Hines; one son, TyLance LeShawn Hines; siblings, Charlie Jr., Willie Albert, Leroy, Turner, Carl, Deloris and Barbara Ann.
Tommie will forever be loved and remembered by his devoted sons TyRance L. Hines (Perla Rosas) and Tony O' (Angie) Hines, all of El Paso, Texas. Ten grandchildren — Devin, Heaven, Celeste, Destiny, Addienna, Hannah, Elijah, Isaiah, Issac and Arturo, all of El Paso, Texas. Three sisters — Della (James) Halloway, Bernice H. Chance and Annie H. Cody, all of Georgia. Sister-in-laws — Erlean Hines, Edith Hines, Berhta Hines, all of Georgia and Roberta William of Greenwood, South Carolina. Brother-in-laws — Rufus (Ollie) Chiles, Willie (Edna) Chiles, all of McCormick, South Carolina and Lucious Gamble of Fayetteville, North Carolina. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and a life long friend whom he called brother, Jonathan Roundtree of Baltimore, Maryland will continue to commemorate his life and memories.
