Thomas J. Shamy Sr., 63, of El Paso, Texas, passed away on January 30, 2018. Tom was born February 10, 1954 in Glendale, California, to William and Guadalupe Shamy. He is preceded in death by his son Thomas J. Shamy Jr. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Bernadette D. Shamy, sons Paul and Joseph, daughter Nicole, and grandchildren Noah, Eden, and Jonah. An Andress High graduate, he served on the Korean Demilitarized Zone as a HAWK missile radar technician in the U.S. Army. Following Korea, he worked as a roughneck in the oil fields of Odessa, TX. In the 1980s, he returned to El Paso and worked as an electrician at Providence Memorial Hospital, where he met Bernadette. He soon branched out as a pioneer in the local computer field, eventually operating his own business, Action Computer Sales and Service. In retirement, he was a Trustee for VFW Yucca Post 8919 and was known for grilling his famous pork ribs and love of music. You may have caught Tom fishing in Elephant Butte, 4-wheel driving around the desert, or having a cold beer with his friends at the King’s X, or fellow veterans at the VFW. He will be greatly missed. Funeral arrangements are with Martin Funeral Home, 3839 Montana Ave, El Paso, Texas. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, February 5th, 10:00am with rosary at 11:30am. Military honors will be held at Fort Bliss National Ceremony at 1:30pm.
