Stephen Matthew Ayub Saunders, age 55, of El Paso, Texas entered eternal rest on Friday, February 24, 2023. Steve was born in Roswell, New Mexico on September 30, 1967. He attended El Paso High School and the University of Texas at El Paso. As a teenager he published a fanzine called "Basher" that allowed him to communicate and meet with artists and musicians from all over the United States. He loved to play his guitars and members of his band, Uglor and friends, remember "Stevocide "as an artistic legend for his album covers, jackets, tattoos and artwork.
Steve was a gentle, God-fearing man who was gracious and loving. He loved and was loved dearly by his family. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Dr. Pablo Ayub and Loraine P. Ayub and his uncles, Paul Ayub, Tony Ayub and Michael Ayub. He is survived by his daughter, Tabitha Wood (Zach), grandchildren Tom and Ramona Wood, his parents Alan and Joyce Zarowski and his godmother Socorro M. Ayub. His surviving siblings are Darron Saunders (Carlie) and Adam Zarowski. Surviving aunts and uncles are Denise Gelo, Sherry Sole, Dan Ayub (Lu), Jason Ayub (Vanessa), Yazmin Ayub, Ayshia Ayub and Melanie Prusha. Surviving cousins include Damon Baldi (Veronica), Marcus Quintana, Mario Quintana (Kate), Barnett Gelo, Clay Hooten (Amber), Fred Soele, Traci Ayub (Hunter), Gretchen Ayub, Dalila Ayub, Jason Ayub, Jr., and Violet Ayub. His surviving nephew and nice are Dylan and Jenna Saunders. Steve's surviving second cousins include Dante Baldi, Haley Quintana, Luca Quintana, George Quintana, Elyse Hooten, Madyson Hooten, Pearce Hooten, Jenevieve Moreno, and Rudy Moreno.
Services will be held on Monday, March 27th at Holy Family Church. A Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by a mass at 10:00 a.m. Following the services, his ashes will be laid to rest at Mount Carmel Cemetary. There will be a celebration of his life at the home of his aunt, Denise Gelo, at 1:00 p.m. In honor of Steve, in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation to the church or charity of your choice.
