Ruben Alberto Ruiz was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. A graduate from the University of Texas El Paso, he dedicated his life to education. His first ten years of service were at El Paso's David L. Carrasco Job Corps center, a no-cost education facility for young adults. From there, he went on to teach for twenty years within the EPISD, working at several elementary schools including Rusk, Beall, and Zavala. Ruben was recognized by every school that he taught at as an outstanding teacher. Driven by a passion for education, he possessed a level of dedication that was extraordinary. Ruben made a difference in the lives of many people. He loved his students as if they were his own children, and the children he taught loved him and respected him as an instructor, mentor, and as their "coach." He will be sorely missed. He was married for 34 years to the love of his life, Maria Leticia Ruiz; a loving and devoted wife that provided him with a level of strength that is unfathomable. He is survived by his family: his wife, Maria Leticia; his loving sons, Daniel, Alberto, and David; and his beautiful grandchildren, Synthia, Aries, Angello, and Aletze. We love you very much and we are extremely grateful for all the fond memories you have given us. You will always be #1 in our hearts. May you rest in peace and have eternal happiness in Heaven. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 5, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Harding-Orr & McDaniel Funeral Home.
