Roger S. Bell, 90, of Santa Teresa, NM was born on July 3, 1928 at Masonic Hospital in El Paso, Texas to James Elton Bell and Andrea Golden Bell and passed away on September 17, 2018 in El Paso, Texas. He graduated from Austin High School in 1945. On his 17th birthday he joined the U.S. Navy during World War II where he served on two battleships, the USS West Virginia and the USS Indiana during which time he achieved the rank Seaman 1st Class. He received a BBA degree in 1950 from Texas Western College (now UTEP). Roger was employed by El Paso Natural Gas Company and retired in 1986 after 32 years as Director of the Settlement Compliance Dept.
After many years of collecting Political Items, especially presidential campaign artifacts and Inaugural Medals dating from 1888-2016, he donated the collection to the University of Texas-El Paso where it is now displayed on the 3rd Floor of the University Library.
Roger Bell is survived by his wife of 66 years, Evelyn Davenport Bell, daughters Susan Evans (Dave), Sally Turley, Sandra Peters (John), and Shirley Baird, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, brother James Elton Bell, Jr. (Frances), and many nieces and nephews.
