Rebeca Sanchez was called home by our Lord on Friday, April 29, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 30, 1943, in Aguascalientes, Mexico. She was a lifetime parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and was active in the Cursillo Movement with her loving husband Jose I. Sanchez. Rebeca was a retired kindergarten bilingual education teacher. She taught at South Loop Elementary where she served many young hearts and minds of the surrounding Tigua community. Rebeca was a member of the Ysleta Retired School Employees Association. She also loved to sing in the Malena Cano Senior Chorus (Coro Epoca Dorado) from EPCC. Rebeca was also an ACTS Sister in Christ and a Godmother (Nina) to many. She came from humble beginnings but managed to instill the importance of God and family to not only her own children but many others.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 40 years Jose I. Sanchez, parents Josefina and Juan Antonio Flores, sister Sandra Aguilar, grandchildren Peter and Gabriel Montes, son-in-law Marcellus Westbrook, brother Marco Flores and son Roberto Sanchez.
Rebeca is survived by children Margarita Montes (Armando Jr.) (Ariana, Armando III, Marisa, Anthony), David Sanchez (Joey) (Mark, Adam, Nathan, Chris), Vanessa (Robert’s eldest), daughter-in-law Cristina (Maya, Kieran), Daniel Sanchez (Emily), Rebeca Sanchez–Westbrook (D’Angelo), 17 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, sisters Consuelo, Alicia, Magdalena, and Esther, brothers Alfonso and Raul.
Visitation will be Monday, May 9, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Crestview Funeral Home, 1462 N. Zaragoza, El Paso, Texas 79936 with a Vigil Service at 6 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Daniel Sanchez, D’Angelo Westbrook, Armando Montes III, Armando Montes Jr., Alfonso Flores, Raul Flores, Adolfo Chavira, and Adam Love. Honorary pallbearers are David Sanchez, Anthony Montes, Avery Lopez, Chris Love, Nathan Love, and Mark Love. Rite of Committal will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
