He served with the US Navy for 10 years which included service during World War II and the Korean War.
Upon discharge from the Navy, he came to El Paso. It was here that he met his wife at her family's restaurant, Tony's Place.
After marrying, he was transferred to Amarillo, Tx where he and his wife welcomed their daughter. He later moved his family to Los Angeles to open Phil's Top Shop.
The family returned to El Paso in 1959. He had a career in sales and eventually became an inspector with H.U.D. During this time, they welcomed their son in 1963.
Phillip retired in 1995.
He is survived by his wife, Norma G. Kidder; daughter, Teresa Kidder; son, Phillip Kidder, Jr. and nieces and nephews including Dr. Daniel Rivera, Jim Rivera, Ruth Brown, Nora Rhoades, Phillip Alexander Kidder, Mary Kidder and Lillian Cignar.
Services are Sunday, Oct.18 at Martin Funeral Home Central , 5pm viewing followed by Rosary services at 6 P.M..
Monday, Oct. 19, 9:45 am funeral mass at St. Joseph Church followed by 11am burial at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
