Nellie Ruth Haynes died in her home in El Paso, Texas on August 24, 2011.She was the widow of Pearly Clair Haynes. Nellie Ruth Smith was born in Baker Springs, Arkansas on May 7, 1921 which is where her parents Willie Warner Skyles Smith and Earl Franklin Smith lived. She is survived by two children she loved dearly, James Erwin Haynes (Sara) and Ann Elizabeth Borrett (Lloyd). She is also survived by two grandsons, Marc Travis Haynes and Jeffrey Austin Haynes whom she loved with pride. She was a member of Coronado Baptist Church. Nellie had two brothers: James Frank Smith of Dallas, Texas and Earl Alton Smith of Ft. Myers, Florida both of whom preceded her in death. She graduated from the Tri-State Hospital School of Nursing in Shreveport, Louisiana where she obtained the nickname, “Smitty”. She moved to El Paso, Texas and became a surgical nurse at Southwestern General Hospital after obtaining her R.N. Although Nellie suffered from Parkinson’s disease she was able to remain at home thanks to able considerate caregivers and therapist to which she and her family are grateful. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday August 26, 2011 at Coronado Baptist Church located on 501 Thunderbird. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Services are entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N.
