El Paso, TX – Reverend Michael B. Moore, 74, Passed away peacefully on Monday January 31, 2022. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 25, 1947 to James L. and Edith Marie (Cherksey) Moore. Michael liked to say, “I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as soon as I could!”
Michael served twenty-five years in the United States Army, including two overseas tours in Germany. Having served as an Officer, his many military service awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster). Michael matriculated form the University of Maryland University College with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Human Resource Management was conferred to Michael from Troy University. At the time of his death, Michael worked in the training of Japanese military personnel in the use of air-defense missile technologies. A job he often said he thoroughly enjoyed! In addition to learning Japanese, Michael also spoke German, Spanish, and had a thorough understanding of Biblical Greek and Hebrew. He was an avid scholar of the Christian Scriptures. Michael was an ordained minister with the Church of God in Christ, Holy Light in El Paso. He also founded Living Sacrifice Ministries and conducted many interviews for the KSCE Christian Television Show, “United in Christ.”
Michael enjoyed a number of hobbies including riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his wife. Above all Michael greatly treasured and loved his family and he was an excellent father. He deeply loved God was a faithful follower of Christ Jesus. Michael often expressed great delight in preaching and teaching the gospel, and leading others to Christ. In the past years, he authored studies about the Apostle Paul.
Reverend Michael Bruce Moore is survived by his wife of fifty three years, Mary-Yoly Moore of El Paso, Texas, his sister, Colleen “Jamie” Poirier and her husband Rene, of Kittery, Maine, and by his youngest daughter Kathleen (Moore) White and her husband Jeffery of Colorado, his son Michael Samuel Moore of Colorado, and his eldest daughter, Stephanie Emily (Moore) Williams and her husband Daniel. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alexander White and Summer White.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James and Marie Moore, his sister Susan Maureen Hale, and his brother James Brian Moore. Reverend Michael B. Moore, is remembered as a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord the Righteous Judge, will award unto me on that day.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
A private family ceremony will be held in early April 2022.
