Martha was born in El Paso, Texas in 1923 and was one of 7 children born to Sidronio Garcia and Maria Duran de Garcia. Martha attended Sacred Heart High School.
Martha’s family moved to Juarez, Mexico during the Great Depression. At this time, her parents opened “Las Quince Letras” which was the biggest grocery store in town. Living in Cd. Juarez, she met her beloved husband Rene Maspons while riding the bus on her way to school. He had recently arrived from Habana, Cuba and she fell in love with her future husband. They married in Cd. Juarez Mexico in 1942.
Martha is preceded in death by her husband Rene Maspons, and She is survived by her 3 children: Jose Rene Maspons, Araceli Maspons and Leticia Maspons Willis of Atlanta, Georgia. She was a beloved grandmother of 6: Araceli, Javier (RIP)and Jaime Padilla, Aldo Rene Maspons and Carla Leticia and Christopher Grant Willis from Atlanta, Ga.
She is also survived by one sister Eva Yanez of Dequincy, Louisiana and preceded in death by four sisters, Francisca Holguin, Enriqueta Gonzalez, Maria Torres, Lilia Avila and one brother Arturo Garcia.
Her children would like to give special thanks to Silvia Soria, Luis Covarrubias, Jessica Lopez RN, Veronica Espinoza and Laura de La Rosa who took care of her in her last months.
Memorial Mass will be Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2709 Alabama St.
